An internal memo
prepared for the head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services says
it is possible to provide green cards or delay deportation for hundreds
of thousands of immigrants who are now living and working in the United
States without papers or permanent residence.

The Obama
administration, unable to push an immigration overhaul through
Congress, is considering ways it could go around lawmakers to let
undocumented immigrants stay in the United States, according to an
agency memo.

The Obama
administration, anticipating that Congress might not pass comprehensive
immigration reform this year, is considering ways it could act without
congressional approval to achieve many of the objectives of the
initiative, including giving permanent resident status, or green cards,
to large numbers of people in the country illegally.

Immigration rally planned in San Francisco
More
than 100 people are expected to gather in San Francisco this afternoon
to call for federal immigration reform, just hours after a federal
judge blocked key parts of a controversial Arizona law that is set to
take effect Thursday.
